Marine Cpl Nick Kimmel

Marine Cpl Nick Kimmel purchased Rush, one of our fully trained young adults. Nick who was injured in Afghanistan while on duty by an IED is a triple amputee, having lost both legs and one arm. Cpl Kimmel threw out the ceremonial first pitch in game 2 of the 2012 World Series. Nick has been waiting to receive a trained service dog for himself for over 1 year. After being told repeatedly that the dog which was selected for him was not the right match for him for one reason or another, he decided to look for his own already mannered pup that he could train for his own needs. He took Rush home and will continue his education in Service Dog work.
Rush was chosen to fulfill this very important role in Nicks life based on his intelligence, eagerness to please, and calm demeanor. We look forward to hearing and reporting on Nick and Rush’s progress as they begin this new phase in both of their lives.
