Golden Meadows Retrievers is proud to announce our newest addition to our breeding program “Goliath”. Goliath is from our wonderful parents Giselle and Samson. He was born larger than the typical golden retriever puppy which is why he earned the name Goliath. When selecting pups for our breeding program we are evaluating for looks, confirmation, and temperament and Goliath fits it all.

Goliath is now 8 weeks old, he is happy, healthy, and full of love. Goliath is still much larger than the typical 8 week old puppyand adorable as ever! He is enjoying his puppy play dates through out the day and exploring the ranch. Goliath is going to be a gentle giant when full grown.

Like all of the puppies from Golden Meadows, Goliath was raised with ENS, Rule of 7, and Von Falconers Way. You can read about these on our web site.

Cheque Repulic.  He still runs around and collects avocados from the orchard daily.

Welcoming Tenders

Golden Meadows Retrievers is located in the middle of 110 beautiful acres.  Our golden retrievers and Vizslas are our pride and joy but it wouldn’t be a ranch life without fresh eggs from the chicken coop every morning! We do mark the eggs so we know which ones will be hatching eventually.  The arrival of our chickens is just as exciting as the arrival of our pups, we loooove animals.

Our pups are gentle, loving, and very smart. Here is a photo of one of our pups welcoming “Tenders” to the Ranch.

We are very proud of our lines, we breed not only for looks but for temperament and health as well. All of our pups start their socialization and training at 3 days of age and receive it daily until they go to their forever homes at 8 weeks of age. The socialization and training at this point is not so much behavioral training but making a more well rounded pup by the time they enter your home. We get your puppy use to new environments, sounds, smells, materials, and textures. We do this using the Rule of 7, ENS, and Von Falconers Way. (You can read about all of these on the top right hand side of our web site).

Once the pups are old enough we will start taking them on car rides around the ranch. This gets them comfortable in the car so they aren’t completely shocked when they go home. Our trainees get car rides into town where they become familiar with the noises in town. Since we are located in the middle of 110 acres they are not around the town noises every day. Our trainers take the puppies home with them over night for socialization and to prepare them for their trip to their forever home.

"Underwater Puppies"

Golden Meadows is thrilled to be working with Seth Casteel on his up and coming book “Underwater Puppies”, scheduled to come out Fall of 2014. Seth is an award winning photographer and New York Times best selling Author. Seths journey started in 2007 when he began taking photos of homeless pets in order to help them find loving homes. Our Golden Retriever puppies were included in Seth’s very successful book “Underwater Dogs” in 2012. “Underwater Dogs”was the best selling photography book of 2012!  Seth is a pleasure to work with and an all around great guy, he takes amazing photos and we couldn’t be happier to have our golden retriever and Vizsla pups included in his work.

Just another day in Paradise..

Keep your eyes out for one of Golden Meadows Retriever’s puppies wherever you go!! From all over the United States to Italy and even Hawaii you can find our golden retrievers everywhere. Buuuuut you probably wouldnt expect to see our golden retrievers while enjoying the beaches in the Bahamas!! Golden Meadows is proud to see 2 of our golden retriever puppiesliving a life of luxury and fun on their own private resort in the Bahamas.

Calista, one of our trained golden retrievers, and Phoebe, one of our golden retriever puppies, flew out to Florida this past week where their new family met them and brought them to the Bahamas on their private plane. Not only are they welcomed by their new mom and dad but a new doggy sister “Lady”.  All three girls are having the time of their lives and getting along great!

The pups are surrounded by tourist who cant wait to meet and love on them.

First of all I want to thank  everyone who donated to Hazels fundraiser, we managed to raise thousands of dollars for Hazels family! 

As you probably already know Golden Meadows got together with The Talbert Family Foundation to set up a raffle to raise money for Hazel Hammersley. Hazel is a 2 year old girl who was diagnosed with a high-risk stage 3 Nueroblastoma this year.

The raffle was a success and Golden Meadows pulled the winning ticket for  Hazel’s Fundraiser  on July 5th, 2013. The lucky winner was Courtney and WOW was she the perfect fit for our beautiful Ellie May!

Courtney drove out to Golden Meadows to pick up Ellie May and fill out the appropriate paperwork. It was love at first site for the two of them and they bonded instantly. It turns out Courtney knows the Hammersley’s and hopes to bring Ellie May around when Hazel is feeling up to it. Courtney has renamed Ellie May “Hazel” in honor of the little girl. We truly believe that all of our puppies go to the homes they are meant for

Golden Meadows Crew donated Blood to help Hazel

Golden Meadows worked together with The Talbert Family Foundation to raise money for Hazel in a raffle where the winner won Ellie May, one of our golden retriever puppies. Hazel is a 2 year old girl who lives in Golden Meadows hometown of Moorpark, CA; she was diagnosed with high-risk stage 3 Nueroblastoma.

All of our hearts broke for this little girl and we wanted to help as much as possible. Golden Meadows crew got together and headed down to a church in Simi Valley, CA where we all donated blood for Hazel and the other children at the Los Angeles Children’s Hospital. We brought along Ellie May for people to see and got even more donations for Hazel! We were so happy to be able to raise thousands of dollars for the family and donate blood to the children in need.

Golden Meadows Retrievers is proud to be working with such an amazing organization, The Talbert Family Foundation, to raise money for a local girl named Hazel. Hazel was diagnosed with a high-risk, stage 3 Neuroblastoma late April of 2013. She is currently undergoing tests and chemo and is being such a brave little girl through it all. Hazel has stolen all of our hearts at Golden Meadows Retrievers, we decided to help raise some money for her family by hosting a raffle to win one of our golden retriever puppies. With the help of the Talbert Family Foundation we were able to make this happen and put it together on Hazels Fundraiser web site. The raffle tickets are $50 each and you can purchase as many as you would like. You will be entered into the drawing for each ticket you purchase and we will pull a winning name when the puppy, Ellie May, is 10 weeks of age. Not only are you helping little Hazelnut but you are also entering for a chance to win one of Golden Meadows golden retriever puppies!
The puppy is Ellie May, she is from Aria and Lj and was born on April 13, 2013. We will be pulling the winning ticket on June 22nd when Ellie May is 10 weeks of age. She will be already crate trained and sleeping through the night without accidents. You will be able to meet her parents as well as the staff at Golden Meadows Retrievers on the day you pick her up. Ellie May will come already microchipped and will have a booklet with both parents pedigrees, test results, and her up to date immunization record. She will be eligible for limited registration through AKC as well.

Trained Puppy- Easter Egg Hunt

Every Holiday is a chance to give your golden retriever puppy a new experience. The more new experiences they get the more well rounded they will be as an adult dog. Here are Golden Meadows Retrievers we like to keep the holidays fun and exciting for our puppies as well. Below you will see a video of some of the puppies in our started training program searching for treat filled Easter eggs in the yard.

This is something you can do with your puppy at home, it will stimulate the mind and you will be surprised how quickly they can get to the treats inside. We also did an Easter egg hunt with some of our 8 week old golden retriever puppies, you can watch that video in a previous blog.
